Thank you for visiting Al-Ma'ida CSA. We are committed to providing top-quality, organic vegetables and organic, halal/zabihah meats and poultry to the Five Boroughs and Northern New Jersey. Founded in 2008, we work with Norwich Meadows Farm, located on 35 lush acres in Norwich, NY.

Certified Organic Vegetable Shares
Starting in September 2009 and lasting for 10 weeks, we'll be offering vegetable shares consisting of 6-10 varieties of organic vegetables. Individual shares cost $150 and weigh 7-15 pounds. Family shares cost $300, and weigh 14-30 pounds. There will be 10 weekly distributions of the vegetable shares.
Certified Organic Chicken Shares
Chicken shares will consist of 2 chickens, weighting at least 4 pounds each. The cost of a chicken share is $36. Shares will be distributed once every 2 weeks. So, if you want 8 chickens, you'll purchase 4 shares; specify whether you want them all at once.
Natural Lamb/Goat* and Certified Organic Beef Shares
Lamb, goat, and beef shares will consist of 25 pounds of meat. Shares will cost $200** each, and will be distributed every 5 weeks (twice during the fall season). Non-American beef cuts can be arranged if we have enough people who could purchase at least a half cow.
Certified Organic Turkey
Turkeys will be available in November 2009. Turkeys will weigh 20 pounds (larger ones may be available) and will cost $120.

Administrative Fee
$20/season to cover operation and distribution costs.
*All animals from Norwich Meadows Farm are raised and processed halal/zabihah and organic. We are not calling our sheep and lambs "certified organic" because they were bought from a non-organic farm. They were purchased shortly after birth and have been raised according to USDA and NOFA-NY organic standards ever since.

**The cost of beef, lamb, and goat shares may go down depending on the number of shareholders. The more shareholders purchasing these items, the lower the price. If there are enough shareholders to lower the price (40 or more), checks refunding the difference will be distributed along with the shares.
The distribution location is still not settled, but due we're sure it will be in Hudson County or the southern part of Bergen County, NJ. Distribution will start in the second week of September 2009 for the fall season.
